One of the things I like best about myself is my ability to look at an item, procedure, process, etc, and figure out how it can be better. This skill has always helped me, in all aspects of my life. I think this ability is a melding of both my left and right sides of my brain…a synergy, if you will. For example…
In our Craft Assassins World Headquarters, or HQ, I never have enough space to lay things out. One day I was putting the ironing board away in preparation for crafting when I had a lightbulb moment. Use the ironing board! Its adjustable height makes it a perfect extension of my table top when I’m sitting down.
We were having a problem in our bedroom using our TV. The super cute TV stand we have is way too low to be able to change the channels on the cable box. We would have to lean over my side of the bed to aim the remote at the box. We had another TV stand that I thought we could set on top, but it was pretty wobbly. To add to matters, when Todd put the cute stand together, he put the shelf in upside down, so the chipboard was on top – not too attractive.
I took a piece of foam core and nailed it to the back of the wobbly stand and then put it on top of the cute stand. Now the TV and cable box are higher, and it’s easier to watch TV AND change the channels.
Then I took a roll of nice shelf liner and lined the chipboard shelf. Now it looks classier.
I like figuring things out. Sometimes I need to let ideas percolate in my brain for a while, but I can usually figure something out. I figure that if I can think it up, it has to be doable!
