I’ve been pinning a lot of embroidery pins on Pinterest lately. I’ve been on Pinterest for over a year now, and it’s only been recently that I’ve actually started to create the crafts I’ve pinned. Are you like that? You find yourself pinning all sorts of awesome things, but you just don’t quite get around to doing anything with all of those pins…

I saw a project similar to this one, and I had to make it!

I printed out our names and the ampersand in a font I liked, pulled out my light box, and traced them onto a piece of tracing paper. Then I used carbon paper and a stylus to transfer the design to a piece of fabric.

I used to cut the fabric and then hot glue it to the hoop’s inside, but it never quite looked right. Now I cut an extra inch or so of fabric around the hoop, then I sew a running stitch around, and pull it tight before binding off the floss.

I finish off the backs of hoops with a piece of felt. I lay out the felt, hot glue sections of the hoop (on the wood, not the fabric), lay it down on the felt, pull the felt taut a bit, and keep hot gluing and laying it on the felt. After, I cut the felt out using the hoop as my guide.

I glued black rickrack onto the edge of the hoop (that I had painted black). Tip: Hot glue onto the rickrack, not the hoop, so that you don’t have glue in the spaces where the rickrack zig zags.
Have you made anything from what you’ve pinned on Pinterest? Leave a link to your blog so that I can check them out!
