Zombie Prom

  1. The picture above is from Halloween 2009 when Todd and I went as Zombie Prom King and Queen.
  2. On September 21st, Todd and I are going to participate in Run for Your Lives: Zombie 5K Obstacle Course Race.
  3. We’re both pretty excited about this, although neither of us is in very good shape!
  4. By participating, we’re going to ask people to sponsor us so we can raise money for Rancho de Chihuahua.
  5. Each person starts out with four “lives”, which are flags on a belt.
  6. While running, climbing, and crawling, we’ll dodge zombies who try to take our lives.
  7. If you pass the finish line with at least one life left, you’re still human.
  8. If you pass the finish line with no lives left, you’re now a zombie.
  9. We had our choices of several waves (times when you start). I chose 11:00 am for a couple of reasons: 1) It’s still early enough in the day that it won’t be too warm, and 2) Here’s where my brilliance shows: The first zombie wave is from 8:00 am – 11:20 am. I figured that by 11:00 am, those zombies would have started to get tired, thereby giving us an advantage!
  10. I need to figure out how to allow people to sponsor us online. I think PayPal has an option, but I also don’t want too much money to have to go back to whichever website hosts our online sponsorship.
  11. When the weather starts to get nicer here (there’s still a lot of snow on the ground), Todd and I will start training outside. There’s a forest preserve near our house that will provide good climbing, running, and crawling opportunities.
