My Husband, My Hero

embroidered liver

Today my husband Todd celebrates his “Soberversary” from alcohol! He has been sober for two years, which is 730 days. In order the mark the occasion, I embroidered what I envision his healthy liver to look like now.

It goes nicely with the 365 embroidery piece I created for him last year, on his first Soberversary.

two-years-sober-embroideryAnd they both look fabulous on our embroidery wall!

embroidery-wallTo give you a little peek into how proud I am of my husband, here’s the little card I made to keep with the piece. And, of course I gave him a super mushy card, too 🙂

Healthy-Liver-CardI used 3.5 skeins of floss, and, if you’re interested, the “perfect liver” color came from DMC 3721 and 3722.

Congratulations, Todd, on your sobriety birthday. Amy, your gifts for Todd are beautiful. Recovery is a wonderful journey; we get there when we take the first step and admit we are powerless over alcohol; and when we get to the meetings, sit around the tables, get a sponsor and work our steps we learn a whole new skill set for living. I have almost five months in, and look to people like you for inspiration. Keep coming back – it works if you work it! In Serenity and Sobriety, Elizabeth Flygare
