#ThankStitching No. 5 with Cristina Trinidad
Cristina Trinidad of Cristina Makes
I am so thankful for embroidery. For so long, I didn’t think I was “that kind of creative”. You know the one, she’s crafty, intuitive, and makes art with her hands. As a classically trained opera singer, I thought that was my talent, my *only* talent. Not that I was looking a gift horse in the mouth, but you know how it is. Singers always want to paint, painters want to act, actors want to dance. Grass is always greener! Embroidery has taught me that I can take everything that I’ve learned and apply it to each piece of art, each creation I make with my own hands. Embroidery has given me the confidence to feel I can take on anything! Even my next love, weaving! There is so much more to learn, but embroidering has given me the courage to try! When asked about embroidery, I always encourage people to try it for themselves. Passing the needle through the fabric is meditative (perfect for bubbling anxiety) and very addicting. So what are you waiting for? Try it!
#ThankStitching is a series of daily posts (and hourly posts on Thanksgiving) in the month of November in which needle artists from around the world submitted to me why they are thankful for their particular needleart.
