#ThankStitching No. 35 with Tetiana Lutsak
My long-lasting love affair with knitting started more than 20 years ago, when I would stay up late at night watching my mom knitting. It was a time, when you could not buy things on the market or in shops, because most of the shelves were empty, and after the break out of USSR people had no extra money for clothes. My mother would knit socks and gloves, hats and scarves, pullovers, dresses and even carpets, all designs coming from her own inspirations. Thanks to her enormous talent, I spent my childhood showing off in unique custom-made garments.
A little bit more than a year ago I started my own knitting business. My whole life I have been craving for beautifully made knitwear from natural fibers. Unique pieces, which would be pleasure to wear, last long and enhance my personal style. It has become a time of creativity and hard work, which bring into my life so much fun. And I realized that I am not alone! I met people who inspired me and encouraged my work. So here I am, thankful to knitting for all the wonderful people I got to know, for all the sleepless hours I spent chasing my inspirations, for all the challenges I accepted and all the goals achieved, for the unique chance to share my passion with people all over the world.
#ThankStitching is a project to collect and curate reasons why stitchers worldwide are thankful for their particular needle craft. Look for daily posts in November with hourly posts on Thanksgiving Day.
