This may sound strange, but at almost 40 years old, I feel like I have only recently begun to grow into the “real me”. I had never thought of myself as artistic or creative in the past. Well, that all began to change when I tried hand embroidery for the first time one year ago. I instantly fell in love with the medium and the endless possibilities of expression that it afforded me. I was a painfully shy and insecure girl growing up and still find it difficult to say the right words at the right time. However, I’ve found that embroidery has given me a voice that I never had. It has become a vehicle through which I can freely share the message of faith, joy, hope, and love to others all across the world. I just adore this creative community that I have stumbled upon through my exposure to embroidery, and now weaving as well. I am so truly thankful for how needleart has grown me as a person and has connected me with the most wonderful customers and fellow makers. In addition, on this 26th day of November, I am especially thankful for the one man who believed in me from the very beginning. My husband, Mark (@filmshooter) has encouraged me to pursue my dreams and has been so gracious to me with the corresponding decline in housework being accomplished. Happy birthday to my biggest fan!
