Why I am thankful for…
Embroidery wasn’t my first choice, I will have to admit. I started with another lovely craft, crochet. But I was always interested in crafts of all types, I will admit I am a bit of a craftaolic! It was only when I decide to take part with the #CraftBlogClub challenge online, which was to complete an upcycle challenge of your own that I decided to incorporate embroidery into my project. And so another crafty obsession began.
The thing about embroidery for me is the freedom of it, you don’t have to stick to one stitch or use one colour over and over and you can complete a project quickly enough, although alas I have too many wips on the go! I like the way you can put your stamp on things. With the project I mentioned above (first hoop), I used my son’s little shirt and embroidered a little anchor on it and I have kept this as a little keepsake. I know the stitches aren’t perfect but it’s a little piece of him when he was small and the anchor represents to me how our kids ground or anchor us. After this project I really got to love it and I try to stitch most days. With the second hoop, I have used the anchor because as of November 29th it will mean I am married for 8 years (yikes!) again as a symbol of family anchoring us together. And that’s why I am thankful, it keeps me sane & it’s a way of expressing myself.
If you managed to read all this thank you!
#ThankStitching is a project to collect and curate reasons why stitchers worldwide are thankful for their particular needle craft. Look for daily posts in November with hourly posts on Thanksgiving Day.
