Hi, I’m Amy! I’m a Chicago suburb dweller, and by day I’m a library branch manager. Random Acts of Amy is my outlet for what’s going on in my life, people, places and things that I love, crafts that I enjoy, and books {did I mention I’m a librarian??}.
Like myself, this blog is a work in progress.
Here are some random facts about me:
- Although I live in a Chicago suburb, I rarely go to Chicago because I’m terrified of traffic and getting lost {and rude drivers who have no patience with drivers like me}.
- My husband Todd and I were married on 09.10.11
- I have a 20-something son named Logan. When we go places together, people often think we’re brother and sister.
- I’m pet mom to Zuzu {Chihuahua}, Mina {Labrador Retriever mix}, and Karma {long-haired black cat}
- My favorite band is The Clash.
- My favorite song is Train in Vain {by The Clash}.
- I am crazy for Great Apes and monkeys.
- Babies and animals who “talk” on TV crack me up.
- In my life, I moved 18 times. I’ve lived in 5 different states, and 11 different cities.
- The states I’ve lived in are Michigan, California, New York, Connecticut, and Illinois.
- I have an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Middle School Education (I’m qualified to teach self contained K-9th with endorsements in language arts, social science, and Spanish), and a Master’s of Library and Information Studies.
- My favorite color is green, and I still remember the exact moment in the 1970s when I decided that green would be my favorite color.
- I was once kissed by a killer whale at Sea World on my 8th grade class trip to St. Louis.
- I’m a vegetarian. I’ve tried to be vegan, but I’m not disciplined enough.
- I’m a Libra.
- When I was 18, I had a purple mohawk.
- I have a lot of tattoos, and I’m working on sleeves. But you’d never know it to look at me because I wear a lot of cardigans, and I don’t show my tattoos at work.
- I can’t get enough of British television; Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, and Keeping Up Appearances are some of my favorites.
- I enjoy science fiction television and movies, but I don’t like to read science fiction novels. Cozy mysteries, especially those that feature crafts, are my favorite genre to read.
- My favorite craft to do is embroidery.
Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you come back!
