Many months ago on the former Craft Assassins blog I wrote about wanting to get the eyes on my chimp tattoo recoloured. His eyes were green, which is my favourite colour, but they weren’t accurate (there aren’t any bright green eyed chimps out there!).

Some brides worry over their wedding dress, what their bride’s maids will wear, the venue, catering, blah, blah, blah. Sure, I think about those things too, but the things that are really making me fret are are a couple of my tattoos. Don’t worry, I’m not wanting to get them lasered off – I want to get them touched up! Or, in the case of the truly awful butterfly on my left shoulder, covered up.

When I got Francis many years ago, I didn’t like the look of his brown eyes, They looked weird (to me), and it seemed as though blood got tattooed into it. I went back and asked that his eyes be changed to green. Green is my favorite color, and I have brown/green hazel eyes. I was happy with him like that for a long time, but the more I’ve learned about chimps, the more I realize how unrealistic and unnatural his eyes are. I want them changed back to brown!
Out of all the tattoo changes I’d like to make, this is the one that is the most important to me before our wedding. I’m lucky to have several friends who are incredibly talented tattoo artists. Now all I need is the “extra” money (will I ever have that again??) to get him touched up.

Check out my sweet new Craft or Die tattoo on my left inner forearm. It was done by Ryein Rawhoof at Sacred Art Tattoo in Rockford, IL. This was a big step to go below the elbow, but I’m glad I did it! I’m well on my way to having a full sleeve tattoo, which well make me the hippest crafting librarian around!

As a part of moving from Rockford to Naperville, Todd and I needed to get rid of a bunch of stuff. One of the things we didn’t want to move was a sweet stereo system with Infinity speakers that had been my dad’s in the early 1990s. In a barter system-like trade, my friend Ryein of Sacred Art Tattoos took it in exchange for giving me a new tattoo. He was kind enough to also do a cover up tattoo on Todd of an awful tribal tattoo that he had. Todd’s tattoo is in honor of his grandmother (the rose) and his profession.
Todd was so touched by Ryein’s generosity that he stitched up a shirt for him that all the guys and gal at Sacred Art now want. Once we get settled in, Todd and I will be very busy stitching. I’m getting my tattoo by Ryein when I’m back in Rockford on September 25th. It’s going to be of a garden gnome pinup girl who’s doing embroidery. I’m thinking about going “below the elbow” and getting it placed on my left inner forearm. If society was a little kinder to we tattooed folks, there’d be no question that I’d do it. I’m very conflicted about what to do. An alternate spot would be the back of my right upper arm, but then it would be like I was hiding it. I’m quite proud of my tattoos (except the stupid butterfly on my shoulder).
